First, prepare 7 buttons and cut out pieces.
Then, join back and front panels together using a french seam technique. Starting with a stitch right side to the right side.
Trimming the excess fabric.
Turn seam on the other side. Pin in place and stitch.
Attach the shirt placket to the wrong side of the fabric.
Press the edge by 1cm. This will help you to make a stretch stitch. fold over the stitch line and topstitch.
Fold over the stitch line and topstitch.
Take two collar pieces, facing right side to right side. Place one on top of the other and match the notches.
Then sew them together.
Trim the excess fabric and bag out the collar.
Bag out the collar.
Next press the collar and make a stitch at the top to prevent panels from moving.
With a curved edge on the top. Place collar in between collar band pieces and match the notches.
Then stitch all pieces together.
Trim the excess fabric and bag the collar band.
Next, press the collar
and then press the edge by 1cm.
Attach the collar to the neckline starting with notches.
Sew collar to the neckline.
Fold the pre-pressed edge over the stitch line
and topstitch.
Moving on to the hem. Double fold the hem and topstitch.
Next, bind the sleeve opening.
Sew a strap to the wrong side of the fabric.
Then fold twice and topstitch on the right side.
Join sleeve sides together using a french seam technique. Starting with a stitch right side to the right side. Then trimming the excess fabric.
Next, turn seam on the other side. Pin in place and stitch.
Attach cuff to the sleeve leaving 1cm on each side.
Stitch cuff to the sleeve.
Press the edge by 1cm.
Fold the cuff in half and stitch the ends.
Trim the excess fabric and bag out the cuff.
Then, fold the pre-presses edge over the stitch line and topstitch.
Insert sleeves to the armholes.
Use chalk to mark the placement of the buttonholes. First one 10cm from the collar
and then each next one 8cm down.
Repeat the same steps for the placement of the buttons on the other side.
Change to buttonhole foot and sew the buttonholes.
Trim hanging threads and open the buttonholes using an unpicker.
Next, make a buttonhole on the cuff 1cm from the edge and in the centre of the cuff.
Trim hanging threads and open the buttonhole using an unpicker.
As the last step sew the buttons.
