Amsterdam

Lost Memories of Amsterdam

A few years ago, I went to Amsterdam with an old phone and no camera. You might say that the digital era has made us too dependent on technology — and maybe that’s true — but in some ways, I think it’s also one of the best things that’s happened to us.

From that whole trip, I only have three photos. Just three. And while I can still remember exactly what I was looking at and what I was thinking when they were taken, everything else feels like it’s been washed away with time. I can’t recall what I ate, what I found amusing, or what caught my attention as I walked through the city.

That’s why I love photography — not just for the pretty pictures, but because each photo becomes a doorway back to a feeling. A small fragment of a day you might otherwise forget. When I look at an old photo, I can feel exactly what I felt in that moment. And that, to me, is something worth capturing.
